Seasonal Farmstead Assistant 

The Seasonal Farmstead Assistant is an important part of Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village’s (BNHV) Education Department. 

This person assists with crops, gardens, and farmstead needs. 

This position is seasonal, part-time and reports to the Education Manager.

Key Duties

  • Assist with the production of crops and other farmstead products such as chicken eggs, honey, maple syrup, and wool. 

  • Assist with Farmstead crops and gardens planting, harvesting, and maintenance, including tasks such as brush clearing and weeding. 

  • Assist with Farmstead Experience programming. 

  • Assist with Farmstead livestock feedings and care. 

  • Other duties as assigned. 

Conditions

  • This position requires performing job duties outdoors in various weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, cold, etc).   

  • This position requires lifting of 40 pounds or more. 

  • This position requires working with ladders and from moderate heights, working with heavy machinery such as tractors and ground vehicles, physical labor which at times may be strenuous, and interaction with farm animals. 

Hours and Schedule

  • Seasonal, Part Time - 20 Hours Per Week, May - October. 

  • Weekend availability required. 

  • Standard shift 8 am to 4 pm. Additional hours may be required to accommodate community events, rentals, and programs.

  • On-site role. 

Hourly Wage

 $18 per hour

Seasonal Education Assistant 

The Seasonal Education Assistant is an important part of Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village’s (BNHV) Education Department. 

This person assists with providing tours and educational programming.

This position is part-time, seasonal and reports to the Education Manager.

Key Duties

  • Deliver tours, such as school tours. 

  • Deliver hands-on, immersive education programming, such as youth programs.

  • Assist as needed with Farmstead feedings and care.

  • Other duties as assigned. 

Conditions

  • This position requires performing job duties outdoors in various weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, cold, etc).

Hours and Schedule

  • Seasonal, Part Time. 

  • Tours and Programs occur Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Community Events occur Saturday.  

  • Seasonal Shifts: May - June and September - October. 

  • Standard Shift: 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Additional hours may be required to accommodate community events, rentals, and programs.

  • Weekend availability required. 

  • On-site role. 

Hourly Wage

 $18 per hour
