Tree Identifying and Falling

Saturday, February 24th, 2018

8:00 am to 3:00 pm

Past Traditions to Present Practice

Part of a Series on Traditional Ways and Means

Please join us for a walk in the woods to identify different species of trees and do some tree harvesting! We will be visiting the awesome wood lot of Tim Roberts in Somerset Niagara County. We will be using two-man saws, axes, and chainsaws. This event is sponsored by the Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village Woodwrights Guild.

The group will meet in the BNHV parking lot at 8:00 am sharp and caravan to the site. Tim’s farm is about 35 minutes north of the museum. The walk to the woods is fairly long, anyone wishing to join us must be able to walk a good hike, maneuver in the woods, and do some physical work.

Students should wear winter clothes, boots, gloves, and safety glasses, as well as pack a lunch and water. We will be stopping at the Live Edge Brewery for a drink and dinner if you wish to come along after our work is done.

Woodwrights Guild Members are free; Non-Members $20.00; Members $15.00. All proceeds go to the Museum’s education fund.

Limited to 10 persons. 16 years of age or older.
