Course Description

The need for trained beekeepers is essential, now more than ever, for the environmental sustainability of bees to pollinate essential food crops and the production of high quality honey. Join BNHV’s Buffalo Niagara Beekeeping Guild in a 6 week course in beekeeping and learn how you can help the earth’s most important insect to humans.

Syllabus

Week 1: Beekeeping Best Practices, History of Beekeeping, The Honey Bee
Week 2: Spring and Summer Maintenance
Week 3: Pests of the Honey Bee and Integrated Pest Management
Week 4: Plants the Pollinate and their Pollinators…Backyard Bees of North America
Week 5: Products of the Hive…Thinking of Turning your Hobby into a Business?
Week 6: Fall and Winter Maintenance

$60 Non-Members, $50 BNHV Members
